Polyphenols: Foods and Metabolic Health
Educational information on evidence, limitations and individualized decisions.
What are polyphenols?
They are plant compounds found in fruit, vegetables, legumes, cocoa, tea, coffee and olive oil, among other foods.
What benefits are supported?
Plant-rich dietary patterns are associated with better cardiometabolic health. Effects of isolated compounds depend on dose, food and evidence quality; they are not an anti-aging cure.
How can I include them?
Choose a variety of minimally processed plant foods. Concentrated extracts are not necessary and may carry interactions or risks.
